About

Healthworks started in 1977, a small fitness club with big dreams.  Now, with over three decades of experience, Healthworks has expanded into Greater Boston's premier fitness centers for women with over 18,000 members, over 500 employees, 5 locations, and 2 non-profit fitness centers.

Healthworks' goal is to create a community centered on leading healthy lifestyles- with hundreds of group classes offered every week, a team of qualified personal trainers, a spa-like atmosphere in the locker rooms, and a wide variety of equipment.  Our entire staff is wholly dedicated to providing personalized and progressive fitness programming especially for women.

But we are much more than just a gym. Healthworks Extras extends our community far beyond the fitness centers' walls by connecting with local restaurants, boutiques, and salons in order to create fun events. We also have a blog and an active following on Twitter and Facebook, where members can find the newest health and fitness trends, delicious recipes, exercise ideas, and much more!

A large part of what we do, and something that Healthworks is proud to be a part of, is the effort we make to give back to the community which has provided us with so much.  In 2002, The Healthworks Foundation opened a free, non-profit fitness center in Dorchester, which currently serves hundreds of homeless and low-income women in the community.  In October 2008, the Healthworks Foundation expanded to a second location at Codman Square.  There, the goal is to improve the fitness level of both adults and children, the healthy and unhealthy, the fit and unfit.  We accomplish our goal daily by giving opportunities for women and children to participate in regular, low cost fitness programs.  A percentage of all membership dues at Healthworks go towards funding the Foundation.

The Healthworks Mission:  To remain a leader in our commitment to member service, operate quality and progressive facilities and fitness programming, and encourage and motivate women's health, fitness and wellness.
