Healthworks BURN

Join us on the treadmill or outside for a fun and effective workout designed to challenge all fitness levels. Enjoy the benefit of group personal training led by experienced, certified trainers. Heart rate monitors (provided) or personalized "zone" cards ensure the accuracy of training zones and calories burned. Enjoy upbeat music (please bring your own headphones) while you work between treadmill intervals and strength training circuits to enhance your routine and maximize your workout efficiency. The results are your reward.

BURN Schedules


The participants from our last BURN Challenge lost a total of 372 pounds!  The BURN Challenge took place in November 2008.  Participants took 2 BURN sessions a week for 5 weeks.  

Cambridge BURN Challenge Winner, Amy Flynn, lost 4 pounds, 3.7% body fat, and 13 seconds from her half-mile time in just five weeks!

BURN Session Descriptions

Beginner BURN
True beginners find this class welcoming to all -- begin with BURN here! Build both your cardio fitness and basic strength in one efficient workout.

BURN, Baby, BURN
Discover this playful mix of cardio intervals and strength training for all of the upper and lower body muscles. Abs included for the ultimate mix!

Yoga BURN
Zen meets zoom! Walk/run treadmill intervals on hills and flats for speed; follow with a series of yoga poses for serenity. Build both your cardio fitness and your yoga practice in this BURN.

Build and BURN
Get fast and strong! Dumbbell and strength training with personalized attention make this BURN session is perfect for you!

Kick and BURN
Basic kickboxing sequences make the strength circuits of this BURN session challenging and fun. Kick high, kick low, and jab/punch/strike for strength and speed.

BURN with Bands
Like strength training but want an alternative to dumbbells? Resistance bands make this BURN session perfect for you! Arms and shoulders get a great workout.

30-Minute Express BURN
Join your BURN Trainer for an Express 30-Minute BURN session. Great for moms with kids, quick cardio fans, and those with very little time to exercise!

Total Body Blast BURN
Workout performed predominantly on treadmill. This session involves sprints, high incline power walking, and endurance intervals. Try the ultimate in total body conditioning!

Core BURN
Improve posture and balance by strengthening and toning your abs, back and glute muscles. Together with the treadmill, it is designed to help trim your waistline!

Boot Camp BURN
This high energy class is designed to push the body with the fundamentals of body weight training, which includes push-ups, sit-ups/crunches, dips, and squats.

BURN and Ride
Looking to ride/run more efficiently and effectively? This class combines drills for improving using cycling and running machines. Each participant works at her own pace. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to attend.
