Club Policies

We are committed to ensuring the highest safety standards for our members and our team to return to a clean and safe environment. In doing so, we need your help. Below are a few additions to our Club Policies that we ask you to accept and follow when you visit the club.

MASK UP

Due to local orders, Masks are required at Healthworks Back Bay, Chestnut Hill, and Coolidge Corner. Members are encouraged to wear masks at Healthworks Cambridge and will be required starting on 9/3.

NOT FEELING WELL, STAY HOME

Fever, cough, sore throat or headache? Please stay home while under the weather and enjoy HWX Digital Studio if you are feeling well enough.

RESPECT

All members of our community are expected to be courteous and respectful. Inappropriate, disrespectful, threatening, racist or offensive behavior, interactions or emails may result in the immediate termination of membership and facilities access.

WORKOUT ETIQUETTE

Please clean and put away all equipment, allow others to “work in” and be aware of your surroundings when sitting on equipment with your phone. We ask that you help keep the club clean by only wearing clean sneakers when working out.

CELL PHONES

No cell phone usage in the locker room or wet area. No talking on your phone on the fitness floor or in our studios.

GROUP FITNESS

Sign up in advance to reserve your spot, and please remember to cancel at least 4 hours prior to avoid the no show fee so others can have you spot. When attending class, please arrive at least 5 minutes prior to hold onto your spot!

SECURITY

All members should check in at the front desk. We ask that each member have a current photo on file. All guests must complete our registration process and show valid photo ID prior to enjoying the facility. It is strongly advised to not to bring valuables into the club. Healthworks is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

CANCELATION POLICY

A 24-hour cancelation notification is required for personal training and massage appointments. Please email your trainer directly for personal training changes or call the front desk to change a massage appointment.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

How are you disinfecting the clubs?

While we have always prioritized cleanliness, we have sourced advanced hospitalgrade cleaners and airPHX technology for use in our clubs. We will continue to use electrostatic spray cleaning and have wipes provided throughout the clubs, and ask that all members use them to wipe down equipment and class props after each use.

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer can be found throughout the clubs.

Disinfectant Wipes

Members are asked to disinfect equipment after each use with our supplied disinfectant wipes. Our wipes are EPA approved and a proven “one step” disinfectant cleaner which is effective in the presence of 5% serum contamination. 

Air Quality

How are you improving air quality with airPHX?

We have invested in AirPHX technology at all our clubs to improve air quality and reduce the risk of respiratory droplet transmissions. 

AirPHX® Units

  • Continually take in ambient air and create powerful disinfecting agents that kill viruses in the air and on surfaces and neutralize pathogens even deep in surfaces.
  • OSHA compliant and not harmful to humans.
  • Proprietary technology is highly effective in protecting against coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
  • Validated for reductions in surface viruses and antibiotic resistant bacteria in 30 minutes on surfaces with corresponding reductions in airborne organisms.

How else are you managing air quality?

Our clubs were designed to have high air turn over at all times. In addition, we regularly change our air filters and increased outside air to the maximum available quantity.

In addition, in all message rooms we have rolled out Molekule Air Pro air purifiers.

What is New?

Throughout the pandemic we continued to evolve and create exceptional member experiences.  The below are here to stay and included in your membership:

  • HWX Outdoors – Enjoy classes outside near all our clubs!
  • Coolidge Outdoors – Enjoy an outdoor gym coming to Coolidge Corner in June 2021!
  • HWX Virtual at Home – Enjoy amazing virtual classes from anywhere: Livestream or On Demand
  • HWX Virtual In Club – enjoy both Livestream and On Demand virtual classes in our studios.
  • Remote Personal Training – Can’t make it into the club?  Our personal trainers can deliver great sessions wherever you are.
  • Virtual Corporate Partnerships – Are you looking to keep your team connected while all working at different locations?  Let us help you with a custom virtual fitness program for  your team or company.
  • Capacity Tracking – On our website displays capacity trackers showing you approximately how many people are in our club at any moment.
  • Masks: Beginning 8/27, Masks are required at Healthworks Back Bay, Chestnut Hill, and Coolidge Corner. Members are encouraged to wear masks at Healthworks Cambridge.
  • airPHX – airPHX continuously kills bacteria, viruses and other pathogens in the air and on surfaces.

What has Changed?

As we exit the pandemic, our clubs are all open but there are some changes as we rebuild.

  • Temporary Modified Hours of Operation – See our Hours at Each Club’s Page
  • Temporary Reduction in live HWX Classes – See our Schedules Here
  • Reduced Studio Capacities – we are limiting HWX studio capacities to 50% in June and 75% in July.
  • Physical Distancing – visual markers are on some fitness floors and studios to help keep physical distancing in place for the summer.
  • Masks –Temporary Mask Order for Healthworks Back Bay, Coolidge Corner and Chestnut Hill.
  • Back Bay Café remains closed as we evaluate our long-term plans for this space.

Visiting the Clubs

Are clubs open?

All clubs are open and we are slowly increasing our capacities. You can see your clubs’ capacity on our location pages, found here: https://healthworksfitness.com/our-locations.

Are reservations required?

No! Come in and work out however you want. Advance online reservations are required only for our HWX Outdoor Classes, but recommended for all classes. Please click here for tips on signing up using our app.

Do I need to wear a face mask while working out?

Temporary Mask Order for Healthworks Back Bay, Coolidge Corner and Chestnut Hill.

How many members are allowed in the gym at the same time?

This number varies from club to club, as we continue to limit our capacities, but this will be steadily increasing slowly over time.

How do I reserve Classes?

We are excited to introduce our new and improved member app to streamline the reservation process and allow easier access to all HWX Class formats. This is the quickest and easiest way to reserve a workout slot at our clubs. The reservation window for your spot begins 48 hours in advance. Be sure to reserve ahead of time, and cancel as soon as possible if something arises.

Please note that we will be charging a $10 no-show for HWX Classes as space is limited. If you sign up for a class in advance and are unable to make it, please drop the class no later than 4 hours prior.

Can I use a guest pass to visit the club?

We are able to provide you with a one-time pass to visit before you join. Please email us at [email protected] if you have any questions. Additional passes are available for purchase, if desired.

What classes are you offering?

We are currently offering a variety of HWX Class formats:

  • In-Club classes with a Live instructor or virtually streamed
  • Virtual classes on HWX Vimeo On Demand (new classes drop every Monday morning)
  • Virtual Livestream classes on Zoom and Vimeo Live
  • Live HWX Outdoor Classes in Back Bay, Downtown Boston, Chestnut Hill and Cambridge, plus Coolidge Corner coming soon

Are you continuing Virtual Classes?

Yes, Virtual Classes aren’t going anywhere. Our trainers and instructors love reaching you wherever you feel most comfortable and it’s been so exciting to welcome virtual members to our club from out of state and even the country!⁣

How do I sign up for classes?

We are excited to introduce our new and improved member app to streamline the reservation process and allow easier access to HWX classes This is the quickest and easiest way to reserve a spot for classes both in the club and outdoors. The reservation window for your spot begins 48 hours in advance.

Please note that we now have a $10 no-show fee if you sign up for a class and late-cancel (less than 4 hours prior) or do not attend.

Why are outdoor classes coed?

While our HWX Outdoor Classes are predominately attended by women, all of these classes are coed and open to ALL Healthworks Group members, which includes our coed clubs, Republic Fitness and GymIt, as well as guests.

How long will you be offering outdoor classes?

HWX Outdoor Classes are back and we plan to keep them coming into the fall. Learn more here!

How are you keeping the studios and equipment clean?

We ask that all members disinfect equipment after each use using gym wipes provided.

What is the class capacity?

Class capacity remain limited to ensure appropriate physical distancing. We ask each member to stay in their designated workout area during each class. We will be slowly increasing our class capacities throughout the summer.

To ensure appropriate space, we recommend you register for classes in advance through our website or app. 

What if I sign up for a class but cannot attend?

To ensure availability for others, we ask that you cancel your class bookings the same way you enrolled, either in the App or online in the schedule, no later than 4 hours prior to the start of class. You will be charged a $10 fee if you no-show a class in the club.

Are you using Fans in the clubs?

Yes, all fans are now back on throughout the clubs and studios.

Are masks worn in class?

Update: Masks are required at Healthworks Back Bay, Coolidge Corner and Chestnut Hill.

Membership Status

When are you going to bill me my membership dues and other fees?

All special COVID-related membership freezes and support memberships will be ending and your membership will be reactivated on your closest billing date to July 1, 2021. If you are still unable or not ready to return to the club for whatever reason, we have a variety of freeze options to choose from.
